Pre-Payment of Property Tax and/or First Installment

Typically, collection of Property Tax Payments and/or First Installment Payments takes place beginning mid-December to January 31st.  However, should you wish to pre-pay your Property Tax Payment/First Installment, you may so do so under Wisconsin State Statute 74.13.  Per State Statute 74.13, please note your pre-payment/installment must not be less than $100 and may not exceed the total taxes previously levied against the property, as shown on the previous tax roll (View Tax Bill).

IMPORTANT: Please make all checks payable to the Village of Vernon, indicate the Vernon Tax Key(s) and include the best phone number to reach you at should any questions arise.  When our office receives a pre-payment you will receive a letter acknowledging that we received your request and pre-payment.  The pre-payment will not be reflected on your 2022 tax bill.  However, once our tax system is updated with the 2022 tax bill information in mid-December 2022, we will send you a receipt showing that the amount has been applied. If the amount you paid is less than the 2022 tax bill, your receipt will show the balance due. If the amount you paid is more than the 2022 tax will, your receipt will indicate the overpayment amount and a refund will follow shortly.

If you have any questions, please contact our office between the hours of 8:00am and 3:30pm at 262-662-2039
