Accepting Application for Director of Public Works
The Village of Vernon is accepting application for its open Director of Public Works position. The Village is looking for motivated individual to join its team to oversee and manage the overall operations of the Public Works Department. This is an administrative and working position requiring the individual to handle the administrative functions of the Department, while also requiring the individual to be “hands on” and assist in operations as needed.
The ideal candidate would have five to seven years of experience in public works or a related field. Including three years of management or supervisory experience. Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates with additional technical college training or college credits highly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a valid Wisconsin Drives License or the ability to obtain one within sixty (60) days of employment. The candidate shall have a Commercial Drivers License or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment.
The regular work week schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Candidate will be expected to work nights, weekends, holidays and 24 hour emergency calls as necessary and attended night meetings as requested.
Salary for the position shall be $70,000 to $82,000 depending on qualifications. The Village of Vernon offers a competitive benefits package with participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System, State of Wisconsin Health Insurance Plan, and life insurance.
