DPW Mechanic/Road Maintenance Position
The Village of Vernon is accepting applications for its open DPW Mechanic/Road Maintenance position. The Village is looking for motivated individuals to join its team to be responsible for maintaining and repairing the Village’s fleet of vehicles and equipment along with participating in normal operations of the Public Works Department.
The ideal candidate would have five to seven years of experience working as a diesel mechanic working on large trucks and heavy equipment. Experience working on cars and small engines also preferred. Previous experience in Public Works preferred but not required. Candidates must have a valid Wisconsin Drives License or the ability to obtain one within sixty (60) days of employment. The candidate shall have a minimum of a Class B Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment.
The regular work week schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Candidates will be expected to work nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the weather.
Starting compensation for the position is $28.00 to $33.00 per hour depending on qualifications. The Village of Vernon offers a competitive benefits package with participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System, State of Wisconsin Health Insurance Plan, and life insurance.
